We’re building the future of the trades industry. One person at a time.
Two ways to join our pro team.
The Forge Apprentice Program is a 1-year HVAC program for people looking to start a career as a heat pump installer. How it works:
Foundational HVAC training in the workshop
Come to our workshop in Newton, MA and learn how to be a valued apprentice on a heat pump installation crew. You can expect to learn:
- Effective jobsite labor, like how to move heavy equipment and ladders and how to anticipate the help your more experienced crew members might need.
- Basic heat pump equipment installation: mini-split heads, line hides and sets, condenser pads and stands, and condensers.
- Jobsite safety, including ladder safety and confined space safety.
On-the-job apprenticeship
Successfully completing your foundational training means you’re ready to take the next step: full-time employment on the Forge pro team as an apprentice heat pump installer. In this role, you will develop and demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks you learned during your foundational training.
Skill expansion
As you hit specific performance milestones in the field, you’ll unlock additional jobsite responsibilities and the opportunity to learn new tasks in one-day workshop training sessions.
Crew lead opportunities
Becoming a crew lead is a great path for apprentices who excel and want to grow into a leadership role.

Ready for your next chapter? Bring your experience and skills to Forge.
Like a lot of trades professionals, maybe you’ve reached a point in your career where you find yourself spending more time running your business and less time practicing your craft. Whatever you’re looking for, Forge might be the answer. We’re looking for trades professionals who are ready to take their careers and their already considerable skills to the next level.

While experience and familiarity with tools and materials is a plus, they are not required. Almost two-thirds of our program graduates have no professional trades experience.
Nope! We are open to any age as long as an applicant is looking for a full-time career in the trades.
Right now, Forge does not have an option to take our training program and then move on to a different job. We are looking to hire people for full-time jobs.
What you don’t need: any professional trades experience (although an ability to work with tools and assemble things is necessary for success). What you do need: a U.S. driver’s license and a vehicle, to consent to a background check, to be eligible to work in the United States, and to be comfortable with heights and confined spaces, as a lot of our work is done on extension ladders and in attics.
We provide tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. You are responsible for your own work boots and clothing.
Nope! The Forge apprenticeship is a full-time job that starts with cost-free, unpaid training. You start getting paid after successfully completing the training and joining the team as an apprentice.
If you want to learn new skills, work hard, and start a new career as a heat pump installer, then the odds are that yes, it is. A natural ability to work with tools and assemble things are necessary skills to be successful. Being comfortable with heights and confined spaces is also necessary, as a lot of our work is done on extension ladders and in attics.
